Welcome! I have today, created a website where you can come have a peek into our child's life at school. We will do our best to write about our days at least twice a week.
I have created a website/blog like this with parents in the past. It is a wonderful thing. Seeing the pictures and reading the words that come from your children - feels like tiny blessings being sent your way whenever you can look at them.
This is a PRIVATE blog. I am sharing it only with the parents of my students, specials teachers, Ms. Van, and Ms. Bass. This limits our viewing audience so that we can freely comment on the posts and share our thoughts. I will also sometimes ask you to write your thoughts on different topics that come up in the classroom.
The purpose of this site is to LOVE your child. You are to ENCOURAGE your child's learning. You are going to see their thoughts about their day and you are going to ENJOY each post. Each post that you post will be read (usually near the end of the week) to the children. Post - but remember - the words you write will be read by others.
You are your child's first teacher. We are a team. I need you to participate in this blog experience so that my students can hear from you. One year - about 3 years ago - the children created a video after reading the story How to Be a Perfect Person in Just 3 Days. They posted what THEY thought being perfect was. Some of the children's answers included cleaning of rooms, grades that were all A's, and liking vegetables. There was a dad that year who viewed our post and our movie. The question was asked of the parents - "What is perfect to you?" The father explained in words I cannot describe the "perfect game". He related everything to sports. BUT - he said - perfect doesn't mean scores. Perfect isn't measured by what the world thinks. To strive to be perfect means to keep trying and to give our best!
The father I am talking about above had a full time job and went to school at night. I think he wrote the post at like 2 am. The point I am making is that you MAY not post all of the time, but whenever you do - we will enjoy it. I cannot tell you of all of the wonderful teaching moments that come with the reading of the blog to the classroom. The children will hear words they have not heard before and learn new vocabulary. They will hear funny things or new ways of beginning posts and they will learn (by example) how to make the beginning of their writings different each time.
Thank you for joining our site! Happy blogging!
